...were very slow to recruit new marines. So, can I use that as my justification for only finishing one, already half painted mini since my last post?
I tried to put flames on his shoulder pad, but it seemed like a lot of effort for only a 'meh' quality result. As such I don't think I'll try that again soon. :-/
That metallic effect om the green has come out fantastic. I certainly envy that.
ReplyDeleteAs to the flames, the yellow looks good and I think you might get a more satisfactory effect (if you don't mind the suggestion) by drybrushing the red effect on rather than as a flat layer.
Use more orange in the fire, blend between the red and yellow, and you might be happier with it.
ReplyDeleteI do like that your Salamanders scheme resembles the orignal one from early'90s. They look awesome with that darker scheme.
@ James: Nope, suggestions are always welcome. I'll give that a try next time I decide to go this route, however the basic grunts are far too numerous for such tedious decoration.
ReplyDelete@Neverness: I had orange in there, but its more of a burnt orange and just disappeared into the red. I tried blending in some more yellow to lighten it up, but the reddish tone simply swallowed it whole with no visible improvement, and I didn't want to make a dedicated run to HT or Michael's for such a minute amount of paint.
And many thanks to the both of you for the compliments!
Looks good to me. I am never satisfied with my flame attempts either.
ReplyDeleteNeat bolter!
Thanks! The bolter is from one of the new Primaris marines, works really well as a master-crafted bolter.
