To the trees!

o/

Watch out for the poison ivy...

I gotta bunch of 'train trees' for Christmas to use in making some traversable forests for both my 15mm 40k and Classic Battletech. As such I added hex lines for use with the latter which was something of a nightmare. Normally I only discuss Battletech on my other blog, but figured duplicate posts would be kinda pointless for a mere stand of trees.

Luckily this Locust won't devour everything in sight...

I didn't clear coat this prior to adding the hex lines and trees due to inclement weather resulting in considerable frustration as the flocking was coming off at the slightest touch. As such this was partially reflocked multiple times up until I just said fuck it! and left the little bare spots as they were. Future forests will be clear coated prior to the addition of hex lines and the trees themselves

Moving at a crawl...

...if even that much.

Battletech is in full swing but everything else is pretty much a non-starter right now. I did at least (barely) manage to sloppily apply the red to the robes of my Daughters of the Burning Rose KS minis, but that's been it.

3-color minimum achieved! Meaning they're ready for Tournament play, lol!

I dunno, perhaps I just need to take a break (which is apparently already in progress...) or something. I've been going pretty steady on this ol' blog for almost a solid decade. I'm not ready to throw in the towel (or have any intent to do so), rather I think I'm just going to putter around with The Buffet Assault Group blog for a bit, and get it fully up and going. Speaking of, Kushial and I played a 7-8ish hour brawl this past Saturday, and I ought to be posting about that here shortly.

So stay tuned, I'll be back...eventually...

P.S.: Oh, I have my Grymn army up on ebay for anyone who's interested here stateside.

Trying to kickstart this ol' engine...

Not quite sure where the hobbying doldrums came from, but I'm trying to get things moving again. I dunno, maybe it was a bad time to start a battletech blog, as those are the only games I've played here of late, with another scheduled here in a about 2 weeks time.

Working on the old 3-color minimum...

After looking at my vast horde of now and old unpainted minis the other day, and trying to decide where to start painting (again), I finally just said fuck it, and primed the Daughters of the Burning Rose as they were conveniently sitting right in front of me.

I've since added the leadbelcher dry brushed base coat and after a lot of thinning, I managed to get my Mephiston Red sludge thin enough to use again. Cloaks are the current stage of this bunch and then after that we'll see. I honestly don't have a plan for these pretty ladies at the moment, rather am just kinda blundering along.

Daughters of the Burning Rose Kickstarter minis assembled!

o/

Even if you're nice to these ladies, they won't be nice to you!

During the Saturday's deluge of rain, we decided to just hunker down for the day, giving me plenty of hobbytime. All that I had planned anyhow was for our buddy Hoss to come over to play a game of battletech that evening (and more on that later). As such, I got the remaining daughters assembled, and started adding skulls to their bases.

So how is it that Anvil Industries can have the ends of their infantry's gun barrels already molded as being 'drilled out', yet GW is incapable of that themselves?

Overall I'm very happy with my minis, castings were flawless, and they fit together superbly! I highly recommend them to anyone interested once they become available for regular sale.

No sets of arms were the same, giving them all a bit of individuality.

I'm thinking that they'll make good stand-ins for an admech kill team, as that was my original intent for using them as 30k admech-ish militia. So I'm asking: are there any admech players out there who think that that would work?

*****

As for Battletech, Hoss and I had a good ol' slugfest Saturday night and a battle report will be forthcoming...just not here. For good or ill, I've been wanting to move my Battletech posts over to a separate blog dedicated just to that game. Not sure why exactly, but the idea has been in the back of my head for quite some time and I finally took the plunge and set up another blog for just that purpose:

It won't be updated as frequently as this blog is, but I'm think of posting at least once a month to start off, perhaps more in the future if content allows. So give it a look if you would like (I just know that Neverness is dying to, lol!), and I ought to have that battle report posted around the 1st of the month.

This week on ebay...

o/

With the holiday mailing rush over meaning that shipping via the postal service is no longer a nightmare (or, well...at least its not any worse than the norm), I decided to offer up a few more unwanted toys to the almighty ebay.

First up, The Buffet Assault Group partook in its first ever battle. Or rather, they were actually spectators to the battle to see who would take possession of them.

Such cool models, but I'd rather somebody use them just keep them in a mini case forever...
I fully painted an army but never got to play the game...so sad.

Anyone who's been involved in a short, but furious ebay bidding war knows how frustrating and expensive they can be. However when you're selling an item, that same bidding war causes you to cackle with glee as almost non-stop bid notifications come in all the way down to the wire! As such, the price for the TBAGerz almost doubled in those last few, furious minutes!

My other two auctions weren't near as lucrative but sold none-the-less. Next up was an old Battletech tank that sold for prettymuch what I bought it for. Sometimes I wonder why I keep anything Battletech as we so rarely play the game...but that's a train of thought for another day.

Lastly I sold, my Panzerfauste Gnomes. Despite spectacular customer service, the whole experience of poorly cast minis, poorly cast replacement parts, waiting months for said parts and yeah...I didn't have any interest left to even bother to paint the little guys. They sold for the $10 which equaled the price of replacement arms and guns. Ebay and paypal fees meant I lost a little, but that literal cost wasn't nearly as bad as the disappointing experience that I had with them.

As such, with the Gnomes demise, I've effectively washed my hands of Bolt Action all together.

Whilst the lion's share of the $$$ just went into the ol' checking account (because being a semi-responsible adult sucks), I did use some to buy some MINIONS!!! I love the Minions from the Despicable Me movies, and Bombshell minis makes a sprue of (6) robot minions with (or without) guns. I took the ones with weaponry as I think they'll be perfect for use with Rogue Stars.

As for this week coming: I'm hoping to actually paint those Orks I primed last week
