There wasn't a whole lot accomplished on the gaming front this week, really no excuse for it either as the weather has been abysmally rainy and going outside is generally to be avoided as much as possible. That said I did manage to work on a few odds and ends. First up, my old school harlequins got themselves some bases:
Kicking it old school! |
That problem is now solved as Neverness gifted me with 10 original Harlequins for Christmas! Some of the weapons fits are a little off from the current codex, but close enough. I'll try them out this Saturday night where I'll run two squads of five (which is why half are primered, to tell the squads apart).
...and on a totally different note...
BBQ Platoon!!! |
That name started as a joke when a platoon camped out in a city once and never did anything as it was assumed a BBQ street party was in progress. Having one model break from this base, there was room to add a grill from a few little bits of sprue and paper clip. BBQ Platoon is now my premiere infantry unit in Battletech, which is something that my other two platoons (the OMG! & WTF? platoons respectively) are probably quite jealous of...

:) This is good news indeed.
I was right on the flu part. I got over it and a sinus infection moved in right along with it further prolonging my sickness. :(
Hah! Nice work on the infantry platoon, that's hysterical! Loving the old school Harlequins as well, always loved those models, especially the warlock with the quasi-lightning claw. The old death jesters were top notch as well. Looking forward to seeing 'em painted up!
Just when you thought you were getting better too...ya know, Grandfather Nurgle is known for its twisted sense of mirth.
Hope ya get to feeling better soon.
Thanks Mordian! I don't think they'll get the diamonds & checkered treatment, but I'll try & make them colorful!
RTVortil and I actually discussed you a bit today Cheef. I got to rout some of his Corsairs with his notorious high roles for leadership and run movement. He decided you were up there laughing at him. I was getting to handle his Corsairs pretty roughly before he had to go.
And yeah, the new harlequin options and rules are pretty nasty. Only real defense I've found for them is to get close first and get some flamer or heavy flamer templates into them with massed bolter fire.

lol, its great when he starts rolling box cars for LD & run rolls! Don't think he's figured out that those microwaved dice aren't good for that purpose...
Har har. Joke is I microwaved your dice before your last game down here. Hopefully you don't take as long to paint your harlequins as I am, but then again I am painting up the checks and multi-colored madness.
I still want to see someone do Harlequins in a Black/Gray/White mime theme. I think it'd be a pretty cool effect, especially if you did it on a base with a bit of color pop on it.

Mimes? Here's what I think of mimes, quote:
'Well, at least he didn't do that walking against the wind shit, I hate that.'
lol, I'm sure Voril will let you paint one of his...
Nah, he's busy doing that pink, baby blue, light orange girly clown diamond pattern of his.

He's going for the Ronald McDonald look! He's even painted a McDonald's House for them already...;)
Seriously, can't wait to see them painted!
Speaking of 'houses' is your castle finished yet? Or is it still in ruins?
Death Castle? Shit, I've not touched that since '09! LOL
I am quite capable of painting my own circus freaks. Humm... there's an idea. Maybe some midget harlequins?
When my harlequins are done we can have a gang fight. Mine against Ronal's Roughnecks. :)
I can see it now. Ratling Shriner clowns versus Ronald McD Clowns in a west side story dance fight with headless painted gray marines off to one side calling they got next.
