Da Groop's ARRRRRR Support!

 o/

Da Stooka!

It's here! It's here! Perhaps this will shake off my 10th ed 40k malaise? We'll see. I've heard mostly good things, but not really interested in bothering with it at the moment. But that's not why you're here.

No, you're here to see a photo dump of my newly arrived and FANTASTICALLY painted Blitzbomma painted by the esteemed and talented Admiral Drax! Rather than re tell it, you can read about how this project came to be here

Drax's orkified 'Dazzle' camo.

Note the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer which the grot gunner has shot all to hell.

Gonna get me some tail!

The base, cockpit interior & krew are all that remain of my original, partial paint job.

Da last thing da oomies see before da bombs drop!

I got the base of of eBay, from somebody in Greece I think.

Neverness is already stoked about our aerial dogfights in our future Ork vs Ork games. I am as as well, not to mention I still would like to try a war-on-the-floor game sometime in which everybody gets their aircraft together and we all just have a huge air-battle.

Meanwhile in da' Ooh-Kay...

 o/

Just in time (well sorta) for 10th ed, my Ork fighta-bomma's getting some desperately needed by the talented Admiral Drax! He promises that it'll look good and properly orky in da end!

Another update received late last night.

Some changes for Da Groop

o/

That the blurred out yoof in the background is suffering from as much angst as his GorkaMorka counterpart here on the left!

Recently Neverness inquired about our (usually) annual Orks vs. Orks game. I had no idea what my army totaled up to  using the new codex, nor did I even know what was even still included in my collection. Thus, I dug out Da boyz, and tallied everything up (minus da bomma which I'll get to in a bit) and they clocked in at about 850ish points.

Looking to up that total to 1k, I perused eBay and found a decently painted mob of 10 shoota boys, lead by a nob with a slugga and power klaw, as well as a rokkit launcha grunt for a whopping $17.50!

There were also three extras thrown in: the above shoota boy who was headless, a poorly painted GorkaMorka boy, and an old OOP WHFB Black Ork with 2 hand weapons on a square base.

I'm gonna get you sucka!

As you can see I repainted da GorkaMorka yoof (tis a bit shiny in these pics as I hadn't yet matte varnished him). He's pretty well equipped for just a yoof, meaning he likely knifed a Bad Moon yoof in da back (in typical Blood Axe fashion) and stole his gear.

For the headless ork, I scrounged up a primed spare out of my bitz box, glued it in place and painted it up. The result is a decent enough match to the original paint as can be seen above. The square baser was given to Frankie as a test mini to try and see if he likes painting minis or not. That'll likely be another post in the future.

Anyways, this new mob rounds Da Groop out to bout 1k, or at least it did until the new point values were released. I'll wait till Battlescribe updates before I see if that made any difference or not.

Da camo trousers puts the new mob squarely in da Blood Axe camp!

As for da Bomma (bleh, I hope he repaints everything but the krew), 7 years ago Admiral Drax held a contest on his blog, I won and as such he painted my Tankbustas for me as my prize. That popped up as a Facebook memory and I asked if he had the 7 year itch to paint some more Orks.

To my amazement he did! After some discussion, we decided on my Blitzbomma which I had more or given upon some ways back. I didn't care for the direction my color scheme was going in, and not knowing what to do, I put it in its battlefoam tray and forgot about it. There it has languished for almost two years now.

Anyways, Drax and I settled on an expedited completion date of 1-3 years. So, it'll take a bit for my 'mediocre commission' as he calls it. Late last week da grots loaded up and filled da long ways fyool tanks and da bomma iz now flyin' over da sea for its extended deployment to da Ooh-kay!

Drax's refused any compensation for this wonderous deed aside from enjoying the challenge of the project. Not content with that though, I opted for at least a little way of saying thank you. Meaning that hhere's an extra bit of kit on a one-way trip included in da box. I even gift wrapped it!

Who knows, maybe Drax will keep us updated on the project on his long-neglected blog...

Its a shame they can't invade Poland...

o/

Well, in case anybody missed it, last week Admiral Drax finished my Tankbustas! Not only do they look fantastic, but they ought to be shipping out to me today.

WAAAAAAAUGH!!!
Note: The bases weren't flocked per my request. This way I'll be able to base em to match my army.

That said...they're only (according to google maps) about 5 hours from Warsaw, which needs a little bit of a roughing up.

Ok boyz, fink uv it az a Kommando raid...

Not the whole city mind you, just Maxmini's offices. Ya see, the Green Alliance kickstarter has reached the 1 year behind schedule mark this month, and there's little relief in sight. I'd really like my Orc Shooterz, but...well its yet another Kickstarter, by a long established company, that can release new products from their regular product lines, but not follow thru with their KS promises. Yeah...I don't care what they have to offer, I'm not buying any of it till I get my Orks! The discontent pales in comparison to say...the Robotech Tactics' mythical Wave 2 but still, us backers aren't to happy.

Av yoo seen deez boyz? No? Yeah, me neether...

So it would be great if my Boyz could go in, rokkits blazin' and rescue my Ork Shooterz prior to shipping home.

Oh well, at least I'm getting some well-painted Orks, that were a bitch to paint I'm sure (which is why I didn't want to paint em myself). Indeed to Drax's quote on the subject:

'Hopefully I'll never need to paint one of these blasted sculpts ever again...'

lol, but anyways this really wasn't supposed to be a 'rant' post as Drax has done both a superb job and a huge favor for me by painting these boyz up! Though I will admit to being a bit jealous that my Tankbustas got to enjoy an extended trip to a country that I myself may never be able to afford to visit.

Ere We Go, Ere We Go, Ere We Go, Ere We Go...

o/

Holy crap I won a contest! Now why won't the lottery let me win....doesn't have to be the jackpot, just one of the middling prize amounts, or what about an international trip? That'd be great...

Okay, back to the present, Admiral Drax, one of the original inspirations for my decision to start up my own blog, reached his 500th post earlier this week and offered up a contest. He would paint a unit from a randomly chosen commenter of that post, and long story short, I won that prize (and a mob of my Orks will get to go on an international trip at least)!

Amongst the congratulatory comments were many suggesting I send Drax a 30-50 model horde to paint, however that seems to be taking advantage of an already good situation. Instead I offered Drax his choice: My still-in-the-box Ork Fightabomma or my Tankbustas. Concerned about what international shipping would do to a Fighta, he opted for the Tankbusta mob.

When asking what I would be sending to Drax, my amazing and wonderful fiance Wolfy said: Nine? That's it? You can't even send him an even dozen?

lol, yes just nine. I already have one painted, and being the only all metal mini in the mob, aesthetically it already doesn't match the rest of the bunch, so the differing paint job won't matter. Besides, somebody has to get the thankless task of always dying first.

Drax has painted an awful lot of green in his gaming history, but he's yet to paint an Ork. So dis iz a good'n propa fix to dat! Beyond the green skin, he can do whatever he wants paint-wise. Orks aren't conformists (which is convenient).

As you can see, one is already partially painted which he can either simply finish or start over as he pleases. Another also has a bit of my original and horrid tiger-striped color scheme showing. Don't hesitate Drax! Prime over it and don't look back, lol! Nobody wants to see orks painted like that...

So again, I send many thanks to Admiral Drax, and I look forward to seeing what he does with my boyz!
