I spotted this half-buried relic at the FLGS and bought it for a mere $3 last night. I haven’t had the chance to look peruse its pages yet but am sure it will be a very nostalgic read. This one came out in 1989, so it predates my entry into the realm of 40K by 5 years!

While playing Battletech at the FLGS there other day, there was another game in progress that I could not resist taking pics of. One of the guys there is a 'professional pirate' he even has business cards!
Seriously, he travels up and down the eastern seaboard visiting historic sites, museums and schools giving talks on the life of a pirate in full costume. He told us that he will even appear in a forthcoming episode of Expedition Unknown later this spring on the Discovery channel!
Anyway, Adam is developing his own miniature game called Grim Harvest and the game these photos came from was 'playtest #22'. All of the minis & terrain were 3D printed at the FLGS, and painted in the 'past month or two' (seriously, wtf?). Jake (who co-owns the FLGS) said their first playtest game about a month ago used boxes and a 'janky looking house print' for terrain. In that short span of time Adam's creation has progressed to this!
I believe he is aiming for Kickstarter, so I will be sure to post about it when it goes live. May try to get in a playtest game or two as well!
This week my new Zombiesmith boxed game arrived! This time with the Quar in (semi) multi-part plastic minis rather than metal, huzzah! Produced by Wargames Atlantic, I've been waiting quite awhile for this set! You get enough for a dozen each of Royalists and Crusaders, along with a quick-start, skirmish only ruleboook.
The rules are as ever mystifying to me, especially as rules comprehension isn't my strong suit. That said, some folks are working getting some youtube battle reports posted up which ought to help. For example: I have a halfway decent understanding of Star Wars legion due to watching battle reports, despite never playing the game.
Proportionally, they don't gel too well with the old metal minis, though I'm sure folks will mix their metal and plastic forces. I only have a handful of older metals sculpts left, nominally set up for Bolt Action. As such They'll likely be kept separate from these guys.
These come with flat, 25mm bases akin to those of say Bolt Action, however I've ordered some 20mm bases which are in transit currently. I test fitted them to some of the old, gunked up 20mm bases that I still have and their little integral bases will fit on them just fine without any overhang.
So why 20mm bases you ask? Because once mounted on 20mm bases, combined with their short height and stooped stature, these Quar will be perfect for some skirmish-styled tunnel fighting in my caverns terrain! Since nobody that I know of locally is even remotely interested in 15mm gaming (admittedly, they're not interested in the Quar either...), my caverns have sat boxed up in the basement, untouched for well over a year now.

No, this isn't another Star Wars Legion post. Rather for the second time now I've won an NOCF charity raffle! Ya know, I had been donating to these raffle for years to no avail. Only about $15-$20 at a time and win or not, its always for a good cause.
About a year and a half ago I won a pair of Iyanden Warlocks which now reside in my display case. This time around, I won a Salamanders Infernus marine. It's a great paint job, though I find it a bit curious that a Salamanders' Icon decal was not applied. Or painted on, given just how good the flames are freehand painted onto the other pauldron.
Nice as this is, I have no use for it other than to decorate my display case. As such I gifted it to Screech who is now the proud owner of his first painted Salamander! I told him that he ought to be a sergeant or something despite the green helmet, to which he replied: 'Like he's ever going to leave the shelf'.
Can't be risking that pretty paint job with a potential fall from the table I guess.

Neverness is already stoked about our aerial dogfights in our future Ork vs Ork games. I am as as well, not to mention I still would like to try a war-on-the-floor game sometime in which everybody gets their aircraft together and we all just have a huge air-battle.

Nope, no painting from me here of late. Last week I was on my honeymoon in Orlando and after spending most of the week with Mickey, we rounded out our stay with a visit to Disney's Hollywood Studios, mainly to visit the Galaxy's Edge.
I only went on 1 ride as 70 minutes is pretty much my limit on waiting for one (it was Spring Break after all), though my Best Man Screech and Loren, my wife's Maid of Honor had no such limits and went off to enjoy the other Star Wars rides waiting 2 hours apiece for them!
For those wondering, we had a destination wedding in Orlando, and thus our small bridal party joined us on said honeymoon.
Long lines aside, the place is AMAZING!!! As such, this post is just to share a few pics from the The Galaxy's Edge (leaving out the seemingly hundreds more from the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, the wedding itself & more...).

This past Saturday my Buddy Rob and I arranged to get a 1k game of 40k in. I was fielding my Orks again, indeed it was the same exact list as was used vs. Kushial. Rob said they'd be a welcome change from the norm and he brought his Votann out for another go.
As he walked in the door at the FLGS he looked at me and said two things: 'Don't say no and don't eBay them.' He then hands me 2 plastic cases and says 'Call it a wedding present, enjoy.' Not knowing what he was going on about I opened the top case and found his old Ork army.
'Dude what the hell?!?'
To which he replied that they had been in languishing in a corner of his closet, hadn't moved in years, and he had no intention of ever using them again.
So what all did he give me? Well, excluding 20ish orks without bases and or missing parts (which are likely in the bottoms of said cases), and half as many again of 2nd ed grots, I tallied them up to the following:

Am pretty sure that's an accurate count of what's pictured above. Needless to say the Orks are suddenly my biggest of armies by a wide, wide margin! Haven't even started to reorganize my army, but as I seriously doubt I'll be gaming any next weekend, I have time to figure it out I guess.
As for the game, Da Groop put a good ol' wollop'n on the Votann claiming victory for the 2nd week in a row. Collectively there was something like 80+ VPs with the Orks leading by about 20 or so. GW's secondary mission cards along with the scenario conditions result in so many friggin' VPs (often collected in increments of 5 or more) that you all but need a calculator to keep up.

Well, these are pretty! I'm still thrilled that I actually won something (two somethings it turns out). While I no longer have any Iyanden painted Eldar minis of my own, I'm sure that these two will no doubt serve valiantly in my multi-colored Corsair horde at some future date.
As I'm sure you've gathered, I've not done a whole lot of painting here of late. Typical summertime hobbying lull. It's daylight till almost 9pm, and usually the evening hours are the best time to be outside due to the heat.
That said, I have painted a very little, but I'll save those minis for my next post as these two simply put them to shame!
