Lazy days...

Its August.

Meaning its hot.

Really hot!

So, we decided to not do a whole hellva lot this weekend aside from lounging around our house in the blissfully cool air conditioning. As such that resulted in a bit of hobby time, and I painted up the next Alpha Legionnaire in line as well as assembled another to replace it in the painting queue.

The inking went on a bit darker than I'd prefer, but not so bad as to make it stand out from the crowd.

It looks to be a busy week as it is my birthday week (my beloved Wolfy insisted I put that latter part in there...). However with a bit o' luck, I hope to have that miniature done in time for my Thursday post.

He looks good. One at a time is obviously working well for you. And I did buy the codex and Deafmask. More broken rules.... :(

But it's gonna be shiney...

Yes it is, its easily the most of one particular color scheme that I've managed in YEARS!

More broken rules eh? Why am I not surprised...seems forgeworld's writers are the only ones with some sense of sanity.

Really? Have ever seen the Eldar rules FW have come up with? Or the Tau stuff? Haha..."Only the Insane have strength enough to prosper"

Broken rules have always been an issue, and I thought the worst as at an end when Matt Ward and his teenage-fan-fic/MY RULES ARE THE BEST! codexes with neither oversight, playtesting or even editing left GW. But then came GW's reign of free stuff in exchange of buying MOAR! mentality of 'formations'. Personally I think formations have ruined 40k as a whole. The potential to have up to 600 points of FREE units, ranks up there with the infinitely spawning daemons, little nids, etc. Whilst i've not played vs. the majority of the formations nonsense out there, being overrun with units that didn't exist in the army list to begin with (the aforementioned daemons and little nids) was hardly any fun at all. Especially when having a douchebag cackling maniacally whilst ruthlessly exploiting GW's poorly thought out rules at the other end of the table.

As for FW's insanity, they tend to be tied to the giant-stompy whatevers that I have no want to play against in any form or fashion anyways. In all honesty though, its probably all a moot point as for me, games of anything in the 30k/40k realm are so few and far between these days that I can't help but wonder what I'm painting all of this stuff for in the first place...

Wow, That responce probably should have been a blog post! I disagree with the formations breaking 40k, as most players can't usually make them work due to a lack of requsite models. (And if you agree to let your opponent abuse proxies, then you get what you deserve) As far as those 'free' critters being spawned/summoned and whatever, is there a more honest-to-gosh fluffier element in the game than the heroes vs. the evil endless hordes? The concept has been in the game, off and on in some form, since 2nd ed and in the fluffy background since ...always.

Being literally overwhelmed by an endless tide of hormagaunts because the big beasties spawning them are hiding (because THAT'S fluffy) behind the biggest pieces of terrain they can find is hardly my idea of fun. 'Shoot the big ones' doesn't work when they're pumping out the little fuckers faster than I can kill em.

Once again its another 'to each their own' kind of thing I suppose.
